The main producer of One Piece Odyssey recently sat down to discuss the content that players will be able to explore in the demo which comes out on January 10. Developers have been transparent about the game ahead of its launch with multiple trailers detailing different aspects over the months since the reveal. Beyond giving One Piece Odyssey plenty of trailers before its release next week, Bandai Namco has also brought the demo of the game to big events like Gamescom and the Tokyo Game Show to give attendees an idea of what to expect from the latest game based on the popular Shonen Jump series.

One Piece Odyssey producer Katsuaki Tsuzuki mentioned that there are many aspects of the main game that are included in its demo coming out on January 10. The demo focuses on the first two hours of One Piece Odyssey which was a priority for developers so that prospective buyers that are trying it get an idea of the game’s plot. As opposed to the large scope of One Piece Odyssey which will see players traversing across a big map, Tsuzuki suggested that this intro is more closed off for anyone that may get “bored easily” by the pacing of the game or different RPG elements.

Many aspects of One Piece Odyssey’s battling system will be included in the demo, giving fans of the franchise an idea of how much of the game will play before they go ahead with a purchase. While the demo is mostly unchanged from the main game, players will only have access to Waford island and Luffy’s crew at the beginning of the game, with other announced One Piece Odyssey locations like Alabasta and Water Seven being available in the full game. Tsuzuki recommended observing the other One Piece Odyssey trailers to get a glimpse of these locations while he hinted that parts of Waford island will also unlock through RPG mechanics.

It was already confirmed in the past that One Piece Odyssey’s demo has save data that carries forward once players purchase the game, and Tsuzuki further reflected that. One Piece Odyssey players that give the demo a try ahead of its launch will receive a Golden Jelly item that will be “useful for adventures” which suggests that it can increase the stats of a character that ingests it.

One Piece Odyssey will release on January 13 for PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
