However, one person discovered early that the new multiplayer space combat shooter Dead Star made by Armature Studio (the developer working on the upcoming Xbox One exclusive ReCore) will be free for members in April. After pre-ordering the game on PSN, a person known as BLAMdrew received a message from PlayStation saying he had been refunded because Dead Star would be coming for free in April.

BLAMdrew tweeted out the news and since then Dead Star’s inclusion in the April PlayStation Plus lineup has been confirmed by Sony:

The PSN Store lists Dead Star as releasing on April 5, 2016. Chances are it will be free the same day for Plus members, as April 5 is the first Tuesday of the month, which is usually the day each month’s free games become available. It appears this is a similar situation as when Rocket League was free on PlayStation Plus the same day it officially released last July (that game went on to great success with fans and critics).

Dead Star is a top down space shooter with procedurally generated environments, and is described on PSN as:

Armature Studios is mostly known for porting other studios’ games including Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, The Unfinished Swan, Metal Gear Solid: HD Collection, and Injustice: Gods Among Us. The developer is working with Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune and his studio Comcept and Microsoft Studios to make ReCore, first revealed at last year’s E3 Microsoft Press Conference.

Dead Star will be available on PC and PlayStation 4 (again, free for PS Plus members) April 5, 2016.

If you’re a PlayStation Plus member, are you excited to be getting Dead Star for free next month?
