Released recently on YouTube by One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows’ publisher Bandai Namco, the game’s opening doesn’t try to reinvent the wheel. Instead, it builds off the success of “THE HERO!!” and the anime. The game’s opening features a new song from JAM Project titled “Freaking Out!” It may not be “THE HERO!” but it does hit many of the same notes that the original song did. That includes shouting “One Punch” at the start of the video.

As for the video itself, Bandai Namco has interestingly decided to do a full in-engine cinematic rather than outsourcing to have some animation provided. The cinematic teases some of Saitama’s first encounters with villains, including the Deep Sea King and Lord Boros. The video also teases appearances by other heroes from the One Punch Man universe. Mumen Rider’s showdown with Deep Sea King is teased, as is the conclusion of Genos’ encounter with the Demon-level villain. Also teased in the video are the psychic, Tatsumaki, the ultra-fast villain Speed-o’-Sound Sonic.
It may not be as legendary as the original opening for the One Punch Man opening, but it does a great job nonetheless. The new song from JAM Project adds a lot to the overall quality and it doesn’t hurt that the game looks solid, too.
One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows is an action game and not a fighting game, but its roster-size is increasingly comparable. Announced playable One Punch Man characters include Genos, Hellish Blizzard, Mumen Rider, Speed-o’-Sound Sonic, Saitama, Vaccine Man, Mosquito Girl, Carnage Kabuto, Deep Sea King, Metal Bat, and Tank Top Master. Those characters will be needed to fill out One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows’s dramatic 3 vs. 3 battles.
One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows releases February 20, 2020 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
