In the recently concluded test series between Australia and New Zealand, both sides complained about the balls.During the second test in Hobart, the New Zealand team asked for a third ball within the first 11.2 overs of the Australian second innings. NZ bowlers finally managed to swing this third ball and defeated Australia by staging an Australian batting collapse. Several ball changes also happened in the first test in Brisbane. Complaints of balls not seaming or swinging were made. However, whether there is really a problem with the ball is yet to be determined.

Rob Elliot himself seemed confused. Rob said, ”I don’t honestly know what the problem is. It’s perplexing. I am looking for a problem, but I suspect there may be other reasons. Quite often, they use it to break a batsman’s concentration, try to get another ball which will swing.” Kookaburra also held a meeting with the Cricket Australia to discuss the issue. A perplexed Rob believes the complaints are mere suspicions of some players.

Elliot is optimistic there are no problems with the ball selected for the four-Test series against India, beginning at the MCG next week. “We think we have picked out the best 12 balls for this next Test match. We went through those meticulously,” he said. Rob along with company’s production manager inspect each and every ball sent for international cricket matches.
